The Dees make the trip to Blacktown to face the Giants fresh off their first win of season 2019.
Melbourne got close to knocking off the all-conquering Kangaroos last week going down by four points at Casey Fields.
It was Demon domination in for a fair amount of last weekend’s game, winning the disposal count 231-196 but a three goal blitz from North Melbourne in the third quarter denied the Dees the opportunity to be the first team to beat them.
Dees forward Aleisha Newman managed to get Melbourne in front when she kicked her second goal from a mark in the last quarter and was one of their standout players after a quiet first half.
Despite a comeback from the Magpies late in the game, GWS was able to easily account for Collingwood with a nine-point win on the road.
GWS had a four-goal first quarter and recorded 10 out of 11 of the first inside 50s for the game,
The match was never in doubt for the Giants after quarter time as they registered their first win.
Former Magpie Alicia Eva and Rebecca Beeson with 22 disposals each along with the dominance from the likes of Courtney Gum, Alicia Eva, Alyce Parker and Jessica Dal Pos was amongst the best for GWS.
The win now puts GWS in contention for a top-two spot in the Conference B table but with Melbourne finding themselves yet again in a position where they could miss finals on percentage, they will need to win all of their last three home and away games to ensure they don’t miss out – again.
Melbourne should be too good for the Giants on Sunday.
