Magic Millions Guineas Field Preview, Horses, Tips, Odds and Bets – 2019

The 2019 $2m Magic Millions 3yo Guineas at the Gold Coast on Saturday for the three year olds carries equal standing with the $2m The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions 2yo Classic for the two year olds with both spectacles producing capacity fields.

The Magic Millions 3yo Guineas is run over 1400m and the two locally trained three year olds dominate the betting at Ladbrokes.com.au with the Tony Gollan trained Outback Barbie sitting at the top of the market order in early betting at $2.50 ahead of Chris Munce’s last start winner Boomsara at $4.20.

The southern stables also hold a strong hand with Ciaron Maher and David Eustace to saddle up Star Fall, Peter And Paul Snowden have Bondi and Matt Dunn will bring The Fire Trap across the border from Murwillumbah.

We have analysed the entire field and our complete Magic Millions 3yo Guineas tips can be found below.

Boomsara

Boomsara has drawn another wide barrier in the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas but the Chris Munce trained three year old was able to overcome a wide gate last start when jockey Damian Browne let the gelding stride to the front and he went on to record a comfortable all the way win in the Group 3 $200,000 Magic Millions Vo Rogue Plate (1350m) at Doomben. Browne is likely to adopt the same front running tactics again and Boomsara will be hard to run down.

Paquirri

Paquirri is another who has drawn in the car park and has been listed as one of the outsiders of the field. The Gary Moore trained colt will have to improve drastically on his last start fourth at Gosford if he is to be a threat.

Bondi

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Bondi has shown above average ability in the past with a second in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes as a two year old during the 2018 Sydney Autumn Carnival. Bondi’s latest outing saw him run third against the older horses in a 1400m BenchMark 88 Handicap at Randwick and the drop back to his own age group will be to his advantage. Has claims to finish amongst the prizemoney.

The Fire Trap

The Fire Trap was a three times winner during his two year old season but has had mixed form at three runs back this campaign with a first up third and then chased home Boomsara when fifth in the Vo Rogue Plate. Place at best.

Star Fall

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained Star Fall is chasing a hat trick of wins after victories at Pakenham and Caulfield but has to overcome a horror barrier draw. Star Fall has shown good gate speed in the past and Linda Meech has the option of going forward from the gate and trying to hold out Boomsara who has drawn to her immediate outside. The early work will determine the colts finishing effort.

Ljungberg

Scratched.

Smart Elissim

Smart Elissim has been beaten in weaker company at her most recent outings and would have to show some quick improvement to be a threat here.

Outback Barbie

The Tony Gollan trained Outback Barbie is coming off a very unlucky last start sixth to Boomsara in the Vo Rogue Plate but her previous good form has seen her installed as the favourite for the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas at Ladbrokes.com.au. Outback Barbie was competitive in some handy races during the 2018 Sydney Spring Carnival and James McDonald will be able to give her every chance from barrier two in the capacity sixteen horse field. Will be hard to beat as the market suggests.

Granny Red Shoes

Granny Red Shoes had some handy two year old form but is yet to shine in her three year old season with a first up sixth at Doomben and then she lost her rider, Jackson Murphy, at the 600m in the Vo Rogue Plate. Brett Prebble gets the ride in the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas.

Persuader

The Mick Price trainer Persuader scored an upset win in the Listed Twilight Glow Stakes (1400m) at Sandown at the end of the 2018 Melbourne Spring Carnival but was well beaten first up when twelfth to Boomsara in the Vo Rogue Plate. No easier here.

Zizzis

Zizzis never threatened first up when fifth at Randwick in a 1200m BenchMark 78 Handicap and has been marked at healthy double figure odds with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Plumaro

Toowoomba filly Plumaro has been well beaten at her two runs back from a spell with a last start ninth in the Vo Rogue Plate after being caught up in the backwash of the interference at the 600m mark.

Light Up The Room

Light Up The Room is the stablemate of the favourite Outback Barbie and is not the worst on her recent outings. The So You Think filly missed the trouble at the 600m mark in the Vo Rogue Plate to finish third to Boomsara and can share in some of the prizemoney on that effort.

Malahide

The Michael Costa trained Malahide has had some interest in the betting at Ladbrokes.com.au at double figure odds and her followers are willing to forget her last start seventh in the Vo Rogue Plate after being caught up in the Granny Red Shoes incident at the 600m.

Sugar Sizzle

Sugar Sizzle has been posted as one of the outsiders of the field with Ladbrokes.com.au and will find this tougher than her last start win over 1800m at the Gold Coast last Saturday.

Barefoot

Barefoot staked his claim for a place in the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas field with a decisive win last Saturday in an 1800m three year Handicap at the Gold Coast. Much harder here.

Unconditional

First emergency Unconditional gets a run in the field courtesy of the early withdrawal of Ljungberg but has been listed as a $51 chance in the early betting for the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Doss

Second emergency Doss needs a second scratching to gain a spot in the field and is also at long odds with Ladbrokes.com.au. The gelding did make up some ground from the back last start when fifth at the Gold Coast last Saturday.

Say I Cee You

Say I Cee you has had one run back from a spell for a fourth at Ipswich.

Magic Fox

Magic Fox was always well back in the field last start when tenth in the Vo Rogue Plate.

Lancaster Bomber

Lancaster Bomber had no ammunition left when she faded in the straight to finish ninth in the Gosford Guineas (1200m).
