The Scorchers have ballooned out to $9.00 to win the Big Bash this season with poor batting performances getting them into trouble. In their four games this season, Perth have barely cleared 100 runs batting first in two games and then failing to chase down the Sydney Sixer’s score of 164 at the SCG. The bright spot was a controlled 3/92 against the Strikers to win their only game of the season in Perth.
You wouldn’t trust the Scorchers to bat their way to a win in this game but they could shake things up with the ball. Perth have three of the most economical bowlers in BBL|08 with Jhye Richardson (4.91), Jason Behrendorff (5.29) and Ashton Agar (6.00) all in the top 7 bowlers for their economy rates in the competition.
Shane Watson over 22.5 runs ($1.88)
The Thunder captain has made starts in every game this season, averaging 22.25 from his 4 matches. The Wolf thinks that it is only a matter of time before Watto as a steadying influence at the top of the batting order will carry on with a big score. He clearly has his eye in and looks ready to explode.
Michael Klinger under 22.5 runs ($1.88)
The Scorchers top order has suffered from Klinger’s early departures. He remains in a horrible patch of form with recent scores of 3, 2 and 5. Based on what the Wolf has seen the Thunder bowlers will be licking their lips to send him packing before he reaches 23 runs.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Hard to look past the Thunder in their current form. Whilst the Sydney bowlers were given a beating by the Strikers on New Year’s Eve, the Scorchers haven’t shown they have the batting power to do similar damage. The Wolf is confident Sydney will get the win at home.
