The Western Force host their second ‘home’ game in as many weeks on Friday night, this time against the third-placed Melbourne Rebels.
Their first couple of performances in Super Rugby Australia were eye-catching, but the Western Force were found out a little by the competition-leading Brumbies in Round 4 and enter this off the back of a 24-0 defeat.
There is no doubt that this represents a far better opportunity for their first win of the campaign, but they would need to improve noticeably to be in the contest for the full 80 minutes.
The Rebels meanwhile proved too good for an inconsistent Waratahs outfit.
They weathered a decent early fight and pulled away late in the picture, for what was their first win of the campaign.
Buoyed by that result, it’s tough imagining anything other than a comfortable Rebels win materialising this week.
